Who is Christine Baumgartner?

Born on March 4, 1974, Christine Baumgartner, met Kevin Costner while she was working as a model.

According to a 2005 Denver Post interview, it was only after meeting the Bodyguard actor that she was inspired to become a handbag designer.

She said,

”I didn’t start because I loved handbags; I started because I was missing something.”
”I use a computer quite a bit and travel a lot. I looked for a computer bag, and they functioned, but I didn’t find anything that was right for me.”
”When I came up with some samples, I showed them to Kevin, and he said they were beautiful and amazing.”

The former model continued,

How did Baumgartner and Costner meet?

The two first set eyes on each other on a film shoot while the actor was still married to his first wife Cindy Silva.

After the couple’s divorce in 1994, Baumgartner and the Yellowstone actor started dating later that decade. The couple briefly called it quits in 2003.

The lovebirds then tied the knot at the actor’s 160-acre ranch in Aspen in 2004.

Why are the two ending their marriage?

On May 1, 2023, Christine filed for divorce from Costner after 18 years of marriage.

Like many, the divorce filing came as a shock to Costner who was away from home on a shoot.

His reps released a statement saying,

”It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.”

Reports suggest that there was no cheating involved and Christine was fed up with her husband’s tight work schedule.

Since the couple had a prenup, Costner paid his soon-to-be ex-wife $1.45 million which was a fund for her to buy a new home.

In the following divorce filing, the Oscar-winning actor stated that Christine now had 30 days to move out of their shared house.

He made complaints to the court accusing his ex-wife of remaining at his house and making ‘various financial demands’.

How many children do they share?

Costner and Baumgartner are parents to three children, two sons and a daughter.

Their eldest son, Cayden Wyatt was born three years after their marriage. Their second son, Hayes Logan, and daughter, Grace Avery were born within the next three years.
