Barkley’s School Days
In his high school Whitehall High School in Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, he had already started playing the game and had gained an impressive record for a sixteen-year-old.
He rushed for 3,646 yards with 63 touchdowns from his junior to senior year, which included 1,856 yards and 31 touchdowns from his senior year.
Achievements in college
From his high school scores, it was sure for Barkley to attend a great university. Initially, he was admitted to Rutgers University but later changed to Penn State University. In the university, he was rated as a four-star player during the recruitment.
From his very first year in college, Barkley earned a great name by being the BTN.com Freshman of the Year in 2015. He made a new record by rushing 1,076 yards as a freshman. His abilities didn’t end then.
He again trained in the college and made a record for his second year of college by rushing 1,496 yards. In the year 2016, he was announced to be a semifinalist for the receiver of the Maxwell Award and also earned the name of Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.
He again set another record in his junior year by running 358 yards in a single game. He was repeatedly named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.
After all his efforts, Barkley finally earned Maxwell Award Player of the Week on September 26, 2017, after his 358 all-purpose yards in Penn State’s 21-19 win over the Hawkeyes.
No. 2 candidate for Heisman Trophy
The Running Back of the team is considered to be the hardest competitor to beat for the Heisman Trophy of the year. Although most of the previous winners of the Heisman Trophy were quarterbacks.
Now, this time, however, for a change, people believe that Barkley may change this tradition and open a chance for other positions to win the title.
His team ‘Penn State Nittany Lions’ are currently in the limelight due to their amazing abilities with Barkley as a highlighted member. His main competitor for this trophy is Baker Mayfield, a senior from Oklahoma Sooners Football.

Featured in Mel Kiper’s 2018 NFL Draft “Big Board”
Mel Kiper Jr. is an American Football analyst for ESPN. Saquon was featured in Kiper’s headline as Kiper spoke about how good Barkley played. The news was all good and only good about Saquon’s playing skills.
Kiper reported:
“I think the pace of his running style is what gets your attention right away. He’s a patient runner, he lets his blockers do their job. He hits that hole and he can outrun defensive backs to pay dirt. And he can catch the ball out of the backfield.”
He also added:
“Look what he has done production-wise and being durable and reliable. That’s what makes Barkley special.”
