‘It takes a lot of hard work’: Kristen Bell opens up about marriage affair with her husband Dax Shepard

Kristen Bell has revealed that she and her husband Dax Shepard have couples therapy.

On Monday, Speaking with PEOPLE, Bell shared that therapy is the secret to their 3½ years of wedding.

She said,

“We have a very healthy marriage and we got there by doing therapy when we needed it, and constantly doing fierce moral inventories. We both take responsibility when we are wrong, and I think it is easy to work with him because I married him, because I enjoy spending time with him and I trust him. That is exactly what I want in someone that I work with.”

The 36-year-old actress then joked,

“I guess there is no competition between us — we’re not generally up for the same roles, so we can kind of keep that separate.”

Recalling their first fight

Bell recalled the first fight that was during a cross-country road trip on a motorcycle.

“We were fighting about the first year of our relationship because it’s a power struggle, and we were fighting about the playlist, and I got so mad at him at one point that I refused to hold onto him,” she said. “So I was on the back and just held onto the [bike] because I didn’t want to touch him.”

They explained about their marriage

They seem to have a pretty perfect relationship from the outside. Bell blast that illusion by telling US Weekly that her marriage to Shepard “takes a lot of hard work,” and somehow, it has made us love them even more.

Kristen Bell explained,

“I don’t think people realize. It is not easy to work around another human being, but if you commit to it, you can pretty much permanently respect that person, but then it doesn’t really matter if you disagree because you still respect that person.”

She disagrees with her husband “on 90 percent of the issues on the planet.”

Bell said,

“we have really wonderful, intense valued conversations about things, and I always see his point, even if I disagree. It’s hard to do.”
