About Lip fillers

Lip fillers are made of hyaluronic acid which is a natural substance which is found in our bodies. It is found in between the various cells and when it is injected into the lip of a person, it increases its volume and definition.

Not so long ago, lip fillers were made of collagen which is also a natural substance of the body. The newer hyaluronic acid is safer and lasts for a longer time.

The effect of the fillers remains for around 6-8 months after which the natural size of the person’s lip is restored. In order to maintain a voluminous pout, celebrities get their lips injected by a cosmetic surgeon every 6 months.

If they want to decrease the size of their pout, a 6-8 months wait should suffice. But if they want smaller lips earlier than this, then they could visit the plastic surgeon who would now inject an enzyme into their lips which would dissolve the hyaluronic acid and thus remove the gel filler.

This enzyme is hyaluronidase. It could also be used in cases where the lips get oversized due to the hyaluronic acid. Some may be sensitive to the enzyme and need a skin patch test before use. It may need 7-10 days for the whole effect to be seen.
