Laura Dern and her career

American actress, Laura Dern was born to parents who were both actors; Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd. Her paternal grandfather was the former Governor of Utah and Secretary of War, George Dern. Her parents divorced when she was 2. And she grew up under the care of her mother and maternal grandmother.

In 1973, she got an uncredited role of Sharon Anne in White Lightning. And the next year, she starred in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore as the girl eating an ice-cream. In both these movies, her mother had acted. She was Miss Golden Globe 1982. And she also starred the same year in Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains.

Laura’s first credited role was in 1980 in Foxes as Debbie. She did Smooth Talk in 1985, and this was followed with her great roles in Mask, Blue Velvet and in White at Heart. Roles did not stop coming after that and Laura became an integral part of Hollywood.

Laura and her failed marriage

Laura met musician Ben Harper and the two began dating in the autumn of 2000. Their meeting was at one of his concerts. After five years, the two exchanged wedding vows in an intimate ceremony on 23 December 2005 at their house in Los Angeles. Their first child, son Ellery Walker was born on 21 August 2001. Laura became pregnant the second time and delivered daughter Jaya in November 2004.

Ben also had two children from his previous marriage to Joanna. Laura became stepmother of these kids; son Charles born in 1997 and daughter Harris born in 2000.

Ben filed for divorce in October 2010 citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. They reunited briefly and were together at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. But later, in July 2012, Laura filed a legal response and reactivated the divorce. The court granted them divorce in September 2013.

Who is Laura currently dating?

After separating from husband Ben in 2013, Laura dated rapper Common in 2016 and retired pro basketball player, Baron Davis in 2017. Common had said that Laura and he are just friends. While Baron and Laura were spotted kissing outside Beverly Hills hotel. There were rumors that she was having a relationship with Bradley Cooper but Laura had stated that she and Bradley are just amazing friends.

Ben went on to marry the third time and his third wife is social advocate Jaclyn Matfus. After they wed on 1 January 2015, their son Bessy arrived in June 2017.

Prior to dating and marrying Ben, Laura had relationship with Billy Bob from 1996 to 2000. She was in a romantic relationship with Jeff Goldblum from 1992 to 1996 and with Vincent Spano from 1991 to 1992. Prior to these, she dated Renny Harlin in 1990 and 1991, Kyle MacLachlan from 1985 to 1989 and Treat Williams from 1984 to 1985.

Treat died in a motorcycle accident this year at his age of 71 years. Laura put up an emotional Instagram post with their photo in Smooth Talk and wrote below:

“Brilliant Treat. You loved art and acting and living and loving your incredible family immeasurably. Thank you for all the characters and profound creative inspiration you gave us all,”

She continued:
