Lily Collins reveals her toxic ex called her whore
Lily Collins opened up about her past toxic relationship where her then-boyfriend would call her names like whore and belittle her every chance he got.
Recently, the Emily in Paris actress appeared on an episode of the We Can Do Hard Things and said,
“For me, my romantic toxic relationship was verbal and emotional abuse and being made to feel very small,”
The 33-year-old actress continued,
“He would call me ‘Little Lily’…and he’d use awful words about me in terms of what I was wearing and would call me a whore and all these things.”
Collins who has been famously linked to famous celebs like Taylor Lautner, Zac Efron, Chris Evans, and Nick Jonas, did not reveal the identity of the toxic ex.
Emily claimed that her toxic ex’s behavior silenced her and even increased her anxiety and panic attacks.
She recalled,
“There were awful words and then there were belittling words,”
“I became quite silent and comfortable in silence and feeling like I had to make myself small to feel super safe.”
Collins admitted that despite ending the hard relationship, there are things that still trigger her. The actress who is now in a healthy marriage with her film director husband, Charlie McDowell said,
“The situations are completely different 10 years ago to now. That panic is what I can still get triggered by,”
“Even if I’m in the most healthy relationship, there can be a moment that happens throughout the day where history comes back like that.”

Collins is grateful to have a loving and supportive husband
The Love, Rosie actress continued talking about the trauma she still gets from her past relationship. She said,
“It’s like a millisecond, or shorter than a millisecond, and your gut reacts, your heart starts beating, and all of a sudden you’re taken back to that moment where they said that thing to you 10 years ago, but you’re not in that situation now and that’s the trigger and it’s f–king hard. It’s awful.”
The British-American actress also opened up about an aspect of evolution that her therapist once taught her.
“When prey felt threatened, they made themselves as small as possible, possibly by not eating, by making themselves look as least juicy and enticing as possible and that’s where they felt the safest,”
She further expressed her gratitude for having a wonderful and supportive husband with whom she can communicate and talk about everything she wants.
Collins married McDowell, 39, in December 2021, nearly a year after their engagement.
Sharing some glimpses of their wedding on Instagram, Collins wrote,
”What started as a fairytale, is now my forever reality. I’ll never be able to properly describe how otherworldly this past weekend was, but magical is a pretty good place to start…,”
“I’ve never wanted to be someone’s someone more than I do yours, and now I get to be your wife.”
