On Sunday evening, Greater Manchester Police released a statement confirming that the Manchester United player had been taken into custody following posts shared by Robson.

Man Utd star’s girlfriend Harriet Robson shared a series of photographs of her beaten body that was posted to her Instagram story in which she wrote the serious injuries were caused by the Manchester United player.

Robson even uploaded an audio clip as alleged evidence that he forced her to have sex with him. In the audio clips, Robson tells a man whom she called Mason: “I don’t want to have sex”, to which Mason replies that he “doesn’t care” and, when told to stop again, he replied: “I asked you politely, and you wouldn’t do it, so what else do you want me to do?”.

Mason later says: “Push me again one more time and watch what happens to you”.

In the first images, Robson poses frontally showing a thick trickle of blood dripping from her lower lip. She wrote next to the photo, ‘For anyone who wants to know what Mason Greenwood really does to me’.

Similarly, bloodied and bruises can be seen on her legs and arms in the rest of the snapshots. However, the posts have since been deleted from Robson’s Instagram account.

Manchester United following the allegations

Manchester United also released the statement before his custody on Sunday morning. A statement read,

“We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”

The club also stated the player would not return to training or matches until further notice. Mason has made 24 appearances for the Red Devils this season. In September 2019, he made his debut in United in a UEFA Europa League match against Astana.
