Mehdi Taremi is a professional Iranian footballer. Currently, he plays as a striker or Centre-forward for Primeira Liga club, Porto, and the Iran national team.

Before moving to Iranjavan’s youth team, Taremi commenced his football career at the youth level with Bargh Bushehr’s academy.

In 2010, he joined Shahin Bushehr. Then, he moved to Iranjavan in 2013 and signed a two-year contract for the 2014-2015 season. After scoring 12 times in 22 appearances he became the league’s top scorer.

In 2014, he signed a two-year contract and had his game debut with a 1-1 draw. On August 15, 2014, he made his first goal against Zob Ahan and made a victory by 1-1.

Following, on January 8, 2018, he signed an 18-month contract with Qatari club Al-Gharafa and later joined, Portuguese Club Rio Ave on July 23, 2019.  During his first game against C.D. Aves, he scored a hat trick.

Moving on, in August 2020, he had a four-year contract with the Portuguese club FC Porto. On November 8, 2020, he scored his first goal and won by 3-1 during the game against, Portimonense.

He scored 16 goals in total in his 2020-21 season and won his first Primeira title in 2021-22 with 20 goals and 12 assists.

After being called up to the senior team, Mehdi played for Iran at the Under-20 and under-23 levels.  In the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier, he made his first senior team goal during a victory against Guam by 6-0.

Taremi 30, scored two goals in his first 2022 FIFA World Cup game. Unfortunately, Iran was kicked off by England with a 6-2 loss in their opening match of the group stage.
