Haitian singer and musician Mikaben is no longer alive with us. The musician, whose real name is Michael Benjamin, has passed away at the age of 41.

Mikaben was performing onstage in Paris with the Haitian group Carimi at the Accor Arena on Saturday, October, 15 when he suddenly became unconscious. The Accor Arena venue, where he last performed, released the statement the following day via Twitter,

“Last night during the Carimi concert, one of the singers, Michael Benjamin, Mikaben died after fainting on stage and despite the intervention of emergency services. The whole team at Accor Arena is terribly affected and sends all of its support to his family and loved ones during this painful time.”

Presently, video footage from the concert has been viral overall the internet showing the singer walking to the back of the stage after stopping his performance unexpectedly. The 41-years old singer then falls to the ground at the point.

As soon as he collapsed, medics were immediately called to render aid to the musician, and he was given CPR. Similarly, fans were asked to leave the venue as the medical team worked to revive Mikaben. Unfortunately, he sadly passed away.

According to Wiki, Benjamin suffered a cardiac arrest on stage during his performance.

The pregnant Wife is mourning the death of his beloved husband

Mikaben’s wife Vanessa Fanfan, who is currently pregnant with their second child, took to Instagram to share her grief toward her husband’s death. She wrote emotional messages in her first post that reads,

“Thank You for the prayers but please stop calling me. I’m in no condition to talk. I lost my other half and I have no words,”

Similar to this, she wrote in a second post,

“Oh [my God], Heavenly Father, I know you don’t make mistakes and you won’t give us what we can’t [bear] but…this pain is very heavy. Help me please oh merciful Lord.”

Further, she shared a video in which the couple is seen dancing together in their kitchen and also wrote a caption for the post,

“My sweet love, How did God manage to be without you for 41 years????”

Mikaben and Vanessa have been married for two years since November 2020. The two together also have a 16-month-old daughter named Leia. Similarly, Vanessa is currently pregnant with their second child whose due date is in December.

Further, Benjamin was also a dad to his son Gabriel from his previous relationship.

Mikaben’s last post on social media

On Saturday, Mikaben shared a video message to his Instagram story hours before his Paris performance, in which he expressed his excitement at playing with CaRiMi. He said in the clip,

“Yo yo yo, what’s good, my people? I’m out here in Accor Arena, Paris.Today’s the big day. It’s gon’ be crazy. CaRiMi, they’re on fire on stage.”

Similarly, Roberto Martino spoke to Mikaben right before he took the stage on Saturday night, he told the Miami Herald outlet that Benjamin “was so happy” and “couldn’t wait to get on that stage with CaRiMi.”

Martino said,

“It was one of his biggest accomplishments in life. It’s a band that he idolized. I’m at a loss for words. I’m broken,”
“Mika was one of the most talented artists that I had ever met in my life. One of the most humble guys; you never heard him being mad or cursing at anybody. It’s just sad; unbelievable.”

Michael Benjamin, who was better recognized by his stage name Mikaben, was a singer, composer, and producer.

He was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on 27 June 1981. Mikaben was the son of the famous Haitian singer Lionel Benjamin and his mother Roselin. Talking about Mikaben’s academic qualifications, he went to college in Montreal, Canada.

In the Initial phase, he started his career with his cousin in the konpa group Krezi Mizik for several years. He performed as a lead singer in a Haitian konpa group, Krezi Mizik since 2005. The band then released their debut album “Ayiti San Manti,” the following year.

However, he then went solo in the year 2009. He is credited with Albums like Vwayaj (2000), and Mika (2004). Other project includes Ou pati (2010), Depale (2010), Negosye (2011), Abdenwel (2016), Girl Gonna lead, Traffic In Paradise, and more.

He was a very talented artist, who sang in four different languages; Creole, French, English, and Spanish.
