In the meantime, he composed 19 original Phish songs and wrote 27 other Phish tracks which included “Train Song”, “Round Room”, “Sugar Shack,” “Yarmouth Road,” “555,” “Say Something,” and “Waking Up Dead”.

Gordon played custom-made bass guitars built by Paul Languedoc. He also used to play two Languedoc bass guitars, including a “dragon” bass.

He even experimented with a pick (Jim Dunlop 1.5mm triangular graphite picks) and Ken Smith Slickround™ (half flat) strings.

Mike acquired different amplifier and speaker combinations which include the SWR SM-900 amp/Goliath 4×10″ enclosure.

He has used Eden WT-800 amps, a Meyer Sound CP-10 parametric EQ, and a speaker system (two 750P 2×18 cabs and two UPA-1Ps with 12″ low-frequency drivers and 3″ compression drivers).

In December 2012, he used Source Audio Bass Distortion Pro, Eventide Eclipse, Eventide Space, MXR graphic EQ, Boss graphic EQ, Electro Harmonix Super Ego, Audio Bass Envelope Filter Pro, and speaker system: One 750P 2×18 and one 750 PL 2 x 18, two UPA-1P onward.

Later in 2014, he acquired custom moiré instruments for himself and guitarist Scott Murawski for his 2014 Spring Tour.

The guitar and bass are empty which are specially crafted for the tour by Ben Lewry of Oakland, California’s Visionary Instruments.

It has LEDs connected to make it glow and moiré screens stretched in the front.

Swapping colors, and flashing patterns in response are manipulated by the lighting director in the LEDs.

Since 1994, he used the banjo to perform in concert with Phish and [Phil Lesh] (albeit an electric banjo).

On his present band, known as”Mike Gordon”, Scott Murawski is on guitar, Robert Walter on B3 Organ & Synth, John Morgan Kimock on the drummer, and Craig Myers percussionist.

To differentiate his project’s instrumentation from Phish, he began to tour as a quintet.

Gordon and his bandmate’s album OGOGO, Mike’s fifth studio album, as a band at Q Division in Boston was produced by GRAMMY Award-winning Shawn Everett.

On September 15, 2017, it was launched.

On February 11, Gordon and his band appeared as musical guests on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, promoting Gordon’s album Moss.
