“I have always held onto the hope, that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.”

The singer concluded:

Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.”

The two brothers shared a complicated relationship over the years. Nick was also granted a restraining order against his younger brother in 2019.

Nick previously claimed that the I Want Candy singer once confessed that he wanted to kill the Masked Singer’s wife who was pregnant at the time. Nick also apparently threatened his twin sister Angel but he denied all the claims.

But reports suggest that Aaron tried to repair his strained relationship with his siblings.

Aaron’s manager Taylor Helgeson confessed after the star’s death

“I know that they had plans … to get together, to forgive. I don’t know exactly when, but I know that they wanted to — that was the idea.”

Nick also paid a moving tribute to his baby brother at a Backstreet Boys concert where he was seen crying.

The group played No Place with photos of Nick and Aaron playing onscreen.

Aaron’s fiancee Melanie Martin recently celebrated their son Prince‘s first birthday. She made sure to include memories of the late entertainer for their son’s special day.

Martin brought a cake with a picture of the father-son duo. She also brought along a huge collage of Aaron for the special day.
