Nikki Reed and her husband Ian Somerhalder expanded their family!

The Twilight alum, 35, took to Instagram on Thursday, June 29, to share the happy news that she and her husband Somerhalder have welcomed their second child.

It’s a baby boy. The couple is already a parent to their 5-year-old daughter Bodhi.

The baby arrived five months after the pair first announced their pregnancy to the world. In January, she posted a photo of herself holding Bodhi with one hand while cradling her baby bump with the other in a beautiful outdoor setting.

The actress hinted at her pregnancy a day before sharing a picture of herself holding a blanket to her chest while being partially cut off at the frame. She later shared a photo of a field of flowers while writing next to the photo,

“Meanwhile I’m here getting pooped and peed on but let’s pretend life is glamorous for a second 😉 Although truth be told, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Nikki Reed prefers to keep a low-key profile when it comes to her personal life

She shared a photo of her baby boy’s hand on her Instagram story and wrote next to the photo,

“A few weeks ago we welcomed our son, “on what can only be described as one of the most beautiful days of my life.”

She further said that the baby was delivered at home “surrounded by so much love”.

The actress went on to say that she wanted to announce the birth of their baby on her terms because she set strong boundaries with social media when it comes to her children.

She continued,

“I wanted to share first so I can say thank you in advance for honoring those boundaries and for sending positivity, kindness and LOVE.”

Reed also shows gratitude towards her midwife and doctors “for helping to gently guide this sweet boy into the world.”

The Thirteen actors previously also claimed that they decided to keep their family life a secret since the news of her pregnancy was “too good not to share.”

“As all of you know, I have very strong boundaries with social media, especially when it comes to children and what I choose to put out into the world, Thank you so much for honoring that, and for sending positivity and kindness and LOVE. Some things are too good not to share :).”
