- Prince Harry is going to attend his father King Charles III’s coronation on May 6.
- His wife Meghan Markle will not be attending the historic royal event.
- Buckingham Palace announced last week that Markle will stay back in California with their two kids.
Prince Harry will support his dad at the coronation
Prince Harry announced that he will be there in London on May 6 to witness his father King Charles III crowned as the monarch. However, his wife Meghan Markle will not be attending her father-in-law’s big day which puts the couple half in and half out.
This decision created a complex feeling between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.
Last week, Buckingham Palace announced that Harry, 38, will be at the coronation. And Markle, 41, will stay back home in California to be with the couple’s two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Talking about the couple’s decision, a source revealed,
“At this point, it’s become so personal,”
“Maybe what they wanted wasn’t achieved, but at the end of the day, he’s going there to support his dad.”
The sour relationship between Harry and his family was very evident in late March. He was in London for a court hearing against a Newspaper but didn’t visit his father or brother.
A palace insider spoke at the time,
“Things are strained,”
Things started getting worse when Harry released his memoir Spare in January. The monarch was deeply hurt by the accusations he made against his own family in the book.
Despite all the accusations of disloyalty and media manipulation, Charles very much wanted his youngest son to be there for him.
The coronation will be a happy occasion for Harry who will not only be attending the ceremony without his other half but also will have no official role for the day.
He will also not participate in any of the events including a Buckingham Palace balcony appearance.
An insider revealed that Harry “will happily go along with whatever the plan is.’‘

Meghan will be home to celebrate her son’s birthday
Sources also revealed that the real reason why Meghan chose to stay back is to celebrate her son’s 4th birthday which falls on the same day.
Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith revealed,
“It’s an elegant solution,”
She added that Archie’s birthday “gave them a reasonable out for Meghan not to come.”
A close friend of the couple said,
“Meghan wants to be there to support her father-in-law, but at the same time, the scrutiny she receives outweighs the support,”
“There’s always going to be that other side challenging their reasoning, and who wants to put themselves in that position?”
A palace insider added,
“It would have been quite significant if Harry hadn’t attended his father’s coronation, but I’m not surprised Meghan isn’t going given the circumstances.”
