Priyanka Chopra Jonas gave fans a glimpse of celebrating ‘Karwa Chauth’ with her husband singer Nick Jonas on Friday, October 14.

The 40-year-old actress took to her IG story to flaunt her Chooda and Mehendi while the couple celebrates Karwa Chauth in Los Angeles.

Priyanka was seen in the photo holding a sieve seemingly standing outdoors at her home. She wore a red traditional ensemble with red-white chooda-styled bangles for the occasion. Similarly, Chopra’s Mehendi features Nick Jonas’ initials along with a heart symbol.

This is the couple’s first Karwa Chauth after the birth of their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, who was born earlier this year.

Why do women fast in Karva Chauth?

Karwa Chauth is a Hindu festival celebrated primarily by married Hindu women of Northern and Western India who fast for the long life of their husbands. In the months of Ashwin, the festival is held on the fourth day after Purnima (a full moon).

Similar to married women, single women and, if interested, men can also fast from sunrise to moonrise to ensure the safety and longevity of their partners, family members, friends, or anyone else.

The Karwa Chauth fast is traditionally celebrated in the states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and more. In Andhra Pradesh, it is celebrated as Atla Tadde.
