Who is Questlove?

Questlove is an American musician and music journalist.

Quest is the drummer and joint frontman for the Grammy Award-winning band The Roots.

Similarly, Questlove is a member of the production team The Randy Watson Experience, The Grand Negaz, and The Grand Wizzards.

Questlove- Early Life, Parents

Ahmir Khalib Thompson known as Questlove was born on 20th January 1971 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.

He is the son of Lee Andrews and Jacqui Andrews.

Questlove is from Goldsboro, North Carolina. Thompson’s grandfather Beachy Thompson sang with the gospel group The Dixie Hummingbirds.

His mother Jacquelin Thompson and father were also part of the Philadelphia-based soul group Congress Alley.

His parents took him with them on their tour. Ahmir grew up backstage at doo-wop shows.

When Questlove was at the age of seven he began drumming on stage at shows. He became a musical director at the age of 13.

Talking about education, Ahmir enrolled at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in South Philadelphia, Philadelphia.

When Questlove graduated from high school, he took jazz and composition classes at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia.

Music

The line of The Roots was completed with Questlove on drums and percussion. In 1993, they released the album Organix. In the year 1999, they had mainstream success with You Got Me.

Similarly, in the year 2001, he collaborated as the drummer for The Philadelphia Experiment. Also, their second album Heavier Things. The Roots released The Tipping Point.

In the year 2000, Questlove played in Bamboozled. After that, he appeared in Brooklyn Babylon, Finding the Funk, Top Five, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Vincent-N-Roxxy, Someone Great, and Soul.

Television

Questlove was a composer in Street Time in 2003. After that, he worked in Chappelle’s Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, VH1 Rock Docs, iCarly, The Cleveland  Show, The Eric Andre Show, Roots, Sparkle: A Don Quixote Story, and Drunk History.
