Ahmir Khalib Thompson known as Questlove was born on 20th January 1971 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.

He is the son of Lee Andrews and Jacqui Andrews.

Questlove is from Goldsboro, North Carolina. Thompson’s grandfather Beachy Thompson sang with the gospel group The Dixie Hummingbirds.

His mother Jacquelin Thompson and father were also part of the Philadelphia-based soul group Congress Alley.

His parents took him with them on their tour. Ahmir grew up backstage at doo-wop shows.

When Questlove was at the age of seven he began drumming on stage at shows. He became a musical director at the age of 13.
