How did John Stamos and Rebecca Romijn meet?

The American actor John met his then-wife backstage at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for the first time in 1994. Prior to the meeting backstage, the actor really did not know Romijn. Meanwhile, it was not the same for the former model as she knew him beforehand.

Once she described seeing the actor for the first time saying:

“I totally remember seeing John Stamos walk in with his guitar in hand and that dorky haircut, the double-decker mullet. Today I keep thinking, God, what if somebody had been sitting next to me and said, ‘You’re going to marry that man someday.’”

Just after two months after their first meet, the couple started dating officially. For their official date at the time, they went to Disneyland. The former model described it as the happiest place on the earth on their first date. The love blossom started taking to a different step in their relationship.

After three years of dating each other, the actor decided to take their relationship a step ahead. He popped the question to the former model with the aid of a cigar band. Later on, he replaced it with the beautiful four-carat emerald-cut Boucheron diamond in a platinum setting.

They tied the knot on September 19, 1998, at the Beverly Hills Hotel. They read their vows in front of 400 guests at the wedding. The guest list included names like Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Bob Saget, Candace Cameron Bure, the Olsen twins, and Lori Loughlin.

After their marriage, the former model changed her career path from modeling to actress. At the time, she also revealed that her then-husband John was very supportive and helpful to her at the time.

She stated:

“John was so helpful. John taught me, especially in the beginning, and still, he’s so, so helpful. He’s been really supportive… he was like, ‘Be prepared for everyone to hate you…’ He sort of taught me how to tap into comedy a little bit, to maybe distract people… He’s been really helpful.”

The end of their relationship

After five years of marriage, the couple came with the shocking announcement of their split. The couple revealed they are ending their marriage in 2004.

Followingly in the interview at the time, the actress described her married life with him as amazing and wonderful and fun and so full of love.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the couple at the time released the statement of their split saying:

“It’s very amicable. There’s no third party. There’s no real reason except they’ve decided to go in separate directions.”

The actor submitted the divorce documents to the court mentioning irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. After the year of the announcement, the couple legally separated from the divorce in March 2005.
