Rick Sanchez was born in Guanabacoa in Cuba as ‘Ricardo León Sánchez de Reinaldo’ on July 2, 1958. His ethnicity is Cuban.

He has kept his Father’s name a secret but his mother is Beth Smith. Although he was born in Cuba, he along with his family moved to Florida, U.S. when he was two years old. He grew up in his early life in the suburbs of Florida.

According to him, Rick Sanchez suffered racism and prejudice while growing up during his childhood. His father worked as a truck driver, dishwasher, and factory worker.

As per his education, he attended Mae M. Walters Elementary School and Henry H. Filer Middle School. For his high school, he went to Hialeah High School.

Then in 1977, Rick Sanchez graduated from there. Afterward, Minnesota State University Moorhead gave him a football scholarship.

Later, Rick Sanchez received another scholarship for Journalism from CBS/WCCO. So he moved to the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1979 to study Journalism. He graduated from there with a B.A. degree in Journalism.

Rick Sanchez started his journalism career while studying journalism at the University of Minnesota. His first job was at CMT. Then in 1982, he joined WSVN in Miami.

There he worked as a weekend anchor for a short time. Afterward, he also worked for KHOU. He worked hard in each job. Finally, in 2001, he joined MSNBC.

But after a couple of years, he left MSNBC and used to work for WTVJ and WBZL. Furthermore, he changed his employer. In 2004, he started working for CNN. He began working for CNN in 2010.

In 2010, CNN fired him for several controversies on his program.  During his time at CNN, he hosted “Rick’s List.” He also served as a contributor for “Anderson Cooper 360°” and “CNN International.”

Afterward, he started working as a radio football announcer in 2011. He served as the analyst for Florida International University’s football team. At last, in 2012, he joined Fox News.

Presently, Rick Sanchez works for Fox News as a columnist for FOX News Latino. Similarly, he is also a correspondent for the Spanish language network Mundo Fox.

From 2013 to 2015, he also worked for Clear Channel affiliate WIOD 610 AM radio. Rick himself was played by Lloyd in a string of interstitial advertisements for the show in September 2021.
