Riley Keough celebrates Mother’s Day

Riley Keough is honoring her late mother Lisa Marie Presley on what is her first Mother’s Day since the singer’s tragic passing earlier this year.

The actress shared an Instagram photo featuring her mom and dad, Danny Keough, holding her as an infant. She wrote in the captions,

“Lucky to have had the best and most deeply loving mama I could have asked for ,”

Lisa Marie who was the only child of legend Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley died of a cardiac arrest on January 12.

Riley, 33, was Lisa and Danny’s first child. The two then welcomed their son Benjamin who died by suicide in 2020.

Lisa then married Michael Lockwood and gave birth to twins Finey and Harper Lockwood in 2008. However, eight years after welcoming the girls, the couple called it quits.

Keough was so devastated after her mother’s demise that even at her mom’s funeral, it was her husband Ben Smith-Petersen who read the eulogy for her.

The eulogy also revealed that the couple secretly welcomed a child, a baby girl. But they did not reveal when she actually arrived.

While reading the letter on behalf of his wife at Graceland, Petersen said,

“Thank you for showing me love is the only thing that matters in this life. I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters,”

Keough’s message for her late mom continued,

“Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity. I’m a product of your heart, my sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart.”

Riley and Priscilla’s relationship strained after Lisa Marie’s death

Since Lisa’s death, family life within the Presley-Keough family has been tense.

Priscilla claimed the will of her only daughter just days after the tragedy. However, the 2016 amendment names Riley as the trust controller of Graceland, the late Elvis Presley’s mansion-turned-tourist site in Memphis. Additionally, Riley also receives 15% ownership of the singer’s estate.

Insiders claimed that Riley and her grandmother are no longer on talking terms after she challenged the will.

They said,

“Riley and Priscilla are not talking. Their relationship is changing, that is true … it’s just so sad. This is the time Riley would really need her grandmother,”

Fans sent their sympathy to Riley during the occasion. One commented,
