Robert De Niro laid his late grandson Leandro De Niro Rodriguez to rest in New York City just days after his untimely death.

The Goodfellas star and his relatives departed Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home in Manhattan on Saturday to make their way to the cemetery where the 19-year-old was laid to rest.

The legendary actor, 79, wore a black suit and tie for the sad day. He looked visibly upset as he watched pallbearers carry his grandson’s coffin and place it into a hearse.

The Post reported that De Niro arrived in a black SUV and his security escorted him inside the funeral home. Leandro’s parents, Drena De Niro and graffiti artist Carlos Rodriguez followed the actor.

After a short service, six pallbearers wearing black suits and white gloves carried the wooden casket out of the venue.

Robert wrapped his arm around his grieving daughter before joining Leandro’s parents in an SUV before driving off.

A source reported that the mourning family will hold a graveside ceremony for the deceased at a cemetery in Valhalla where Robert’s father is also laid to rest.

Drena announced the death of her only child in an emotional Instagram tribute last Saturday. Sharing a throwback photo, the 51-year-old filmmaker wrote,

“I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly,”
“You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life.”
“I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you,”
“I don’t know how to live without you.”

De Niro continued,

“You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you,”
“I’m so sorry my baby. Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.”

Robert’s grandson died from apparent pills laced with fentanyl

The Taxi Driver actor’s rep also released a statement on his behalf saying he was “deeply distressed” by the death of his grandson.

They said,

“We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone,”
“We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo.”

While the official cause of death of the teen is still under investigation, Drena alleged that her son passed away due to pills that were laced with fentanyl.

When a commentator asked about the cause of Leandro’s death, Drena claimed,

“Someone sold him fentanyl laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him,”
“For all these people still f–king around selling and buying this s–t, my son is gone forever,”

Fans also paid tribute to the actor’s loss. One wrote,

Another added,

”Such a heartbreaking loss for the family! I’m so sincerely sorry for your loss! Take all the time you need to grieve! We all should give them the privacy they much need for this tragic time.”
