The singer has become the first female to have over 400 million followers on the social media app on Friday.
The good news came just weeks after she dethroned Kylie Jenner as the woman with the most followers on the app.
Jenner has around 382 million followers on the app, which she uses mostly to share bikini photos and promote her makeup brand Kylie Cosmetics.
The Naturally singer, 30, is now the third most followed person on Instagram behind footballers Cristiano Ronaldo with 562 million followers and Lionel Messi with 442 million followers.
The Only Murders in the Building star was the most followed woman on the site in 2019 before Ariana Grande surpassed her. And then came Kylie Jenner overtaking them.
Many fans of the Good for You singer are rejoicing the good news and are calling Gomez, 30, ‘the queen of Instagram’.

Selena left social media because of hateful comments
A third called Gomez a global queen, saying,
‘Selena Gomez is now the most followed female artist on Instagram and Tiktok. A global queen.’
Despite having a huge fan following on social media, Selena said she has ditched all her social media apps and only has TikTok on her phone.
Seeing mean comments made Selena realize that the platform was a waste of time.
The Love You Like a Love Song singer revealed,
‘People can call me ugly or stupid and I’m like, Whatever. But these people get detailed. They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying. I constantly had anxiety…I couldn’t do it anymore. It was a waste of my time.’
She added,
”There are wonderful things about social media—connecting with fans, seeing how happy and excited they are and their stories.”
Gomez continued,
”But usually that’s filtered through [for me now]. I created a system. Everything I do I send to my assistant who posts them. As far as comments, my team will put together a few things that are encouraging.”
