Gerard Pique and Shakira’s relationship ends but kids are their top priority

Fans thought Gerard Pique and Shakira‘s relationship would stay forever. But their fairytale ended after 11 years of being together.

The pop star announced her split from her footballer partner of more than 11 years of togetherness. She made the news official through her publicist. She did not mention the real cause of their breakup.

However, it is widely believed that the pair ended their relationship because Shakira found out that Gerard cheated on her.

Now after the separation, the question arises? Who will take the custody of their children?

Not to forget that the couple have two children together from their long-time relationship; Milan,9, and Sasha, 7.

Shakira wrote in her statement:

“We regret to confirm that we are parting ways.
“For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy.
“Thank you for your understanding.”

While this definitely might be a hard time for the couple, the world cup winner is said to be enjoying some quality time with his friends and teammate Riqui Puig.

If rumors are to be believed, the former Manchester United footballer has been staying alone in his apartment since Shakira found out about his cheating scandals.

Pique met Shakira in 2010 when he was training in Madrid ahead of the 2010 World Cup. Shakira released her song Waka Waka as the World Cup’s national song where Pique had a small appearance too.

A year later, they confirmed their relationship and Gerard stated:

“It all started when we were in South Africa and I wrote to her.”

While talking about their marriage, Pique said:

“No, I’m not married. It’s her mentality.
“I like it how we are right now. We have two kids, nine and seven right now. We work good as a couple.”
