Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge broke pregnancy news in a cute way

Sofia Richie and her husband Elliot Grainge had a playful way of revealing their pregnancy news to their parents.

The model revealed she and Grainge were expecting their first child together to Vogue during an interview published on Thursday. There she revealed how she and her spouse broke the news to their families.

Richie recalled,

“We went to Elliot’s parents, who live about five minutes away from us, and I think I had a box — I want to say it was a Hermès box or some sort of box — and I told everyone that I had bought them a gift from Milan Fashion Week,”
“Everyone was like, ‘Ooooh Hermes!’ But then they opened it and it had all three of the pregnancy tests [in it]. That’s how we told all of our parents.”

The expectant mom added,

“Watching their reaction go from like, ‘I’m about to get an expensive present’ to like ‘I’m about to get a grandchild’ was really sweet,”

The 25-year-old model also told the outlet that she is expecting a baby girl.

The daughter of Lionel Richie confirmed,

“My dream in life is to have a daughter [though], and Elliot is really excited for a girl, too,”

Explaining why she chose to hide the news for months, Sofia said,

“Pregnancy is really scary and you want to protect that space,”

“I didn’t realize there are so many milestones you have to hit and so many tests you have to take.”
“For me, it was really important to protect our mental health and our space as a couple.”

She continued,

“There was an anxiety for me about hitting certain milestones [when it came to the pregnancy], and once I passed that 21-week mark, I felt like I was in the safe zone.”

However, Richie did not confirm her due date, saying,

“She’s growing pretty fast, so [the due date] is a bit up in the air.”

Richie and the music producer said I Do in April 2023 during a lavish wedding ceremony in France which took place at one of the most exclusive properties in the world, The Hotel du Cap Eden Roc.

They got engaged in 2022 after about a year of dating.

They were friends their whole lives but once they started dating, Sofia said she knew she found the love of her life.

She said last year,

“When we started being romantic, he just gave me a different feeling,”
“It was a feeling of safety. It was the feeling of really being appreciated.”
“I knew when we started dating that he was my husband.”
