Suzanne Somers lived a very happy life with her husband, Alan Hamel.

Just two months before passing away at 76, the Three’s Company star shared a smiling photo with her husband, 87, on Instagram. She thanked her for always being there by her side throughout her long battle with breast cancer.

The actress captioned the July 31 post,

“Since I have been taking time off from work, many of you have asked for more details about my health. As you know, I had breast cancer two decades ago, and every now and then it pops up again, and I continue to bat it down,”
“I have used the best alternative and conventional treatments to combat it. This is not new territory for me. I know how to put on my battle gear and I’m a fighter. Alan has been by my side every step of the way.”

The star also told her fans that she found it difficult to explain all the ways her hubby had supported her.

She wrote,

“I can’t even explain how much he has done for me. If it’s even possible, we are even closer than ever,”

In the same message, the actress also thanked her family and friends for their unwavering support.

She shared,

“My incredible family has been so supportive, and have helped so much by keeping the business running so you can still have access to all the wonderful products,”
“Thank you for the continued love and support.”

Somers concluded,

“It’s only about who you love and who loves you – and I love you!”

Suzanne and Alan’s marriage was very happy and successful

The Step by Step star and the TV host tied the knot in 1977, six years after he finalized his divorce from his ex-wife, Marilyn Hamel. The exes have two grown children together: Leslie and Stephen.

Suzanne, for her part, was previously married to Bruce Somers from 1965 to 1968. They shared a 57-year-old son, Bruce Somers Jr.

Suzanne and Alan’s married life was very successful and the couple was very vocal about their sex life during her later years in life.

In 2020, Somers admitted that they were having a lot of sex during the lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Suzanne admitted at the time,

“I have a husband who I inject every Tuesday with testosterone, and Wednesday’s a very good day. We have found a way,”

A year later, Somers said on the Heather Dubrow’s World podcast,

“God, our relationship has always been amazing,”
“But now that our kids are raised and it’s just me and Al, and we paid for the tuition, we paid for the weddings and helped them get their start — now it’s just us. Man, are we having fun.”

Alan, a hopeless romantic, gifted his wife a handwritten poem along with her favorite pink peonies just before her death.
