Taika Waititi surprised fans by saying that Rita Ora proposed to him.

The Thor: Love and Thunder director, 47, opened up about his engagement during an interview with Vogue to celebrate their one-year anniversary that the 32-year-old British songstress was the one who flipped the script on their engagement.

Waititi confessed,

“She proposed to me, and I said ‘yes’ instantly,”

Per Vogue, the couple initially met at a barbecue that the director hosted in Los Angeles in 2018. However, they started dating just three years later while both were filming in Australia.

Just a few weeks later, the couple tied the knot in Los Angeles on August 4.

“I was like, ‘Listen dude, I got married yesterday. I’m very hungover, but I think we should write the ultimate wedding song,’”
“My biggest supporter and advocate is Taika,”

She also expressed her desire to have a family of their own one day, adding, “That’s always been a dream of mine.”
