Thomas Ruff was born to Luise Ruff(mother) and Stefan Ruff(father). He got his first camera and started experimenting to make himself good as other photographers.

He was also inspired by the lectures of Benjamin HD Buchloh and he developed his own method of conceptual serial photography.
