The year 1987 proved to be lucky for her as she got her first big breakthrough on TV with a permanent role in the drama Ryan’s Hope as Zena Brown.

She was nominated for Daytime Emmy Award for her acting in the drama that year. In 1989, Arnold was cast as Sharla Valentine for ABC-TV drama All My Children. Arnold was later cast as Pamela James in the TV drama Martin (1992-1997) which was the highest-ranked show of the 1990s.

Later, she did the recurring role of Nicole Barnes on the sitcom One on One, and in 2000, she appeared in Big Momma’s House along with Martin Lawrence. In 2007, she appeared in the comedy movie Wild Hogs which was one of the hit big-screen comedy movies that year. She also appeared in Civil Brand in 2003. Since then, she has appeared in several TV films, stage shows, and big-screen movies.

Tichina Arnold is a successful recording artist, but she is not widely known for her works in music. She wrote and performed the duet song Moving Up which was the biggest hit on Billboard Club Play.
