Who is Tone Loc?

Tone Loc is s a Grammy award-nominated American rapper, actor, and producer who rose to prominence for singing Wild Thing. 

Loc in 2021 has given the voice of Penny singing in the television series The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. Currently, he is on the I Love the 90s Tour since 1990.

Though there are no rumors and controversies relating to singer Tone Loc, he has had health and legal issues.

He fainted multiple times on stage and a few times the reason is seizures, which is adapting these days by wearing his signature sunglasses.

Tone Loc was arrested for Driving Under the Influence(DUI) in December 2010 which he defended through his medical condition, and seizure.

A year and a half later, he was arrested for domestic violence which he was released from with a $50,000 bail.

Legally, he was then put on 3 years of probation, one day in jail. a month of community service and 52 weeks of an anger management course.

Talking about Tone Loc’s career, he had mainstream success in music from 1989 to 1991. He had a fabulous beginning with his debut album, Lōc-ed After Dark in January 1989.

His first single Wild Thing‘s video became a staple on MTV in the US and eventually peaked at No. 2 on the US Hot 100, and in the top twenty in Australia.

Similarly, his second single Funky Cold Medina positioned top 5 in the US and top 10, Top 20 in Australia and UK respectively.

Since his bang-on entry into the music industry, he has contributed a variety of studio albums, extended plays, and singles to the industry.

His second studio album is Cool Hand Lōc, 1991 under the label Delicious Vinyl peaked at 46 on US Billboard.

On Fire, I Got It Goin’ On, All Through the Night, Posse Love, and Ace Is in the House are his few singles. His featured single We’re All in the Same Gang ranked at 10 in US HipHop in 1990 which he sang with West Coast Rap Artists.

Likewise, coming to his awards he has been nominated for MTV Video Music Awards in 1989, Grammy Awards in 1990 and 1991, American Music awards in 1990, and bagged AMA awards for favorite Dance artist in 1990.

Acting career

Loc first appeared in the 1990 film The Adventures of Ford Fairlane as Slam the Rapper. His other feature films include, FernGully: The Last Rainforest, Bébé’s Kids, Poetic Justice, Blank Check, Freedom Strike, Space Cowboys, Totally Awesome, and Not Cool.

His other television is  The Earth Day Special, Touched by an Angel, C-Bear, and Jamal, Happily Ever After Fairy Tales for Every Child, Rude Awakening, Chowder, and Uncle Grandpa.
