Who is Victor Osimhen?

Victor Osimhen is the Nigerian winner of  Golden Boot and Silver Ball awards in football.

Victor started his career at the Ultimate Strikers Academy, in Lagos, Nigeria. In January 2016, after being noticed for his performances at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, he signed a pre-contract with VfL Wolfsburg.

• VFL Wolfsburg

On 5 January 2017, Osimhen officially signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the club, until June 2020. But, sadly he was out with an injury on his arrival.

Surprisingly, on 13 May 2017, Osimhen made his Bundesliga debut for Wolfsburg as a substitute against Borrusia Monchengladbach.

On 28 January 2018, he earned his full Bundesliga debut against Hannover, playing the full 90 minutes in their 1–0 win.

Wolfsburg were in the relegation playoff, but Osimhen missed out through injury and underwent shoulder surgery, ending his season in Wolfsburg with 0 goals in 14 appearances.

• Charleroi

On 22 August 2018, Osimhen joined the Belgian club Charleroi on a season-long loan deal. He replaced another footballer Kaveh Rezaei, who was sold to Club Brugge.

On 22 September, Victor scored his first goal as a professional with a backheel against Waasland-Beveren.

Similarly, on 25 November, Victor scored a goal off the bench in the club’s 4–2 win over Lokeren. After a successful season with the Belgian side, he played 36 games and scored 20 goals in the season.

• Lille OSC

In July 2019 he signed for Lille OSC. On 11 August 2019, Osimhen made his Ligue 1 debut for Lille OSC, scoring against Nantes.

In October 2019 he became ‘Player of the Month’ for Ligue 1.

Victor Osimhen’s International Career

Osimhen was named in the squad of the Nigeria under-17 team that won the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

On 1 June 2017, he made his senior debut for Nigeria in a 3–0 friendly win over Togo. In March 2019, Osimhen represented the Nigerian U23 team. In addition, he scored three goals in the match against Libya in Asaba.

On 13 October 2019, he was in the Nigerian National Football team to face Brazil in a friendly match in Singapore.
