Popstar Aaron Carter died by accidentally drowning in his bathtub after taking drugs, the coroner has confirmed.
Carter was found dead at age 34 in the bathtub of his home in California, on 5 November 2022.

The cause of death of Aaron Carter has finally been revealed

Aaron Carter, the younger brother of Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys, died from accidental drowning in his bathtub after taking drugs according to a coroner’s report. The actor was found dead on November 5 at his home in Lancaster, California.

The autopsy showed that he had taken sedatives and inhaled gas, which caused his death. Xanax was found in his system, and difluoroethane, a gas commonly used in air spray cleaners and can induce feelings of euphoria when inhaled, was also detected.

Police visited his home on November 4 after he was seen inhaling on an Instagram live video. Carter had also missed an appointment with a drug counselor that same day.

On November 5, a housekeeper found his body unresponsive in a Jacuzzi-style tub with prescription bottles and cans of electronic duster nearby.

The singer is survived by his 1-year-old son, Prince, whom he shared with Melanie Martin.

Drowning is the third leading cause of accidental death in the world

‘Stop Drowning Now’ states that drowning is the third leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide. Similarly, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that nearly one in four emergency department visits for drowning involve alcohol use.

Singers Whitney Houston and Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries both died from accidental drowning in their bathtubs while under the influence.

Houston had cocaine in her system when she died in 2012 in a Los Angeles hotel room, while O’Riordan had alcohol and prescription medication in her system when she died in 2018 in a London hotel.

Aaron Carter’s siblings posted heartfelt tributes on social media when he died

Aaron had three sisters and one brother. Their sibling’s death came as a shock to them and the heartbroken siblings took to social media to pay tribute to their late brother.

Nick wrote a lengthy caption with their pictures. It read:

“My heart has been broken today. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded.”

He added:

“I have always held onto the hope, that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed. Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.”

The singer continued:

”I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz., now you get a chance to finally have some peace you could never find here on earth….God,Please take care of my baby brother.”

Aaron’s twin sister Angel also posted on social media and showed him, love:

“I have so many memories of you and I, and I promise to cherish them. I know you’re at peace now. I will carry you with me until the day I die and get to see you again.”
