According to multiple reports on Wednesday, the NFL player and the actress are calling off their engagement after one year of commitment. A source close to Aaron confirmed to PEOPLE the news regarding their separation.

A source told them,

“It was an amicable split; it just wasn’t working. They’re very different people with busy careers, and there were obstacles that they couldn’t surmount. They will remain friendly; there’s no bad blood and no drama. It just didn’t work out for them.”

As per the magazine, InTouch was the first to report the news. In late February 2021, Shailene announced that the two had gotten engaged during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon‘s The Tonight Show.

She flaunted her engagement ring when she raised both her hands while doing the virtual interview.

However, the couple has been keeping their low-key romance. Rodgers once said in an Instagram live during interview with Zenith Watches’ CEO Julien Tornare that he was looking forward to parenthood with Woodley.

He said,

“I just think it’d be so fun. I’ve dreamt about what that would be like and I’m really excited about that chapter whenever that comes.”

Just days before news broke regarding the couple’s split up, the NFL player shared an eye-catching post about his growth opportunities on and off the field.

He wrote,

“Extremely grateful for my life. 17 years worth of incredible memories and lifelong friendships forged because of this game. I’m thankful for all the highs and lows this year and the growth opportunities on and off the field. Thank you for all the love and support.”
