Yet another split-off, this summer the headlines have been all about celebrities’ couples splitting. Another couple of 2019 splitting off is the Grammy winner Adele and her husband Simon Konecki, a charity entrepreneur.

The singer, 31 is finally calling it quits on her marriage after three years and it certainly blew up the internet.

Adele files for a divorce from Simon Konecki

The singer filed a divorce from her husband, Konecki, 45 on Thursday in Los Angeles. The official filing comes after five months of the split. Adele and Konecki were married for three years and together for six long years.

The news of their split left the internet thinking about what could have gone wrong with their long years of relationship. Adele and Konecki share a 6-year-old son Angelo.

The pair tied their knots in a private 2016 ceremony and Adele herself addressed the marriage publicly for the first time during an acceptance speech at the 2017 Grammys. In her speech, she said:

“Grammys I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband, and my son, you’re the only reason I do it.”

The Grammy winner made her breakthrough with singles like rolling in the deep and someone like you. Her second studio album, 21 was critically well-received and earned her numerous awards in 2012.

She won six Grammy awards including the album of the year, two Brit awards, British Album of the year, and three American Music Awards.

Simon Christopher Konecki is the CEO of Drop4Drop, a charity that provides clean drinking water to developing countries. Simon Konecki lived in New York for the first ten years of his life before moving to London, where he attended the prestigious boy’s school Eton for two years.

Konecki’s relationship with Adele has been the subject of much media speculation despite Adele’s attempts to keep it private.

Adele’s representatives, Benny Tarantini and Carl Fysh said in a statement to the AP: “Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”

Adele broke her silence on the divorce by posting a meme of herself on Instagram.

“When you catch yourself in your feelings then you remember who you are,”

she captioned two photos of herself- one where she’s looking distressed and another from her carpool karaoke segment with James Corden in which she looks empowered as ever.

With the divorce on file, the custody of their son, as well as their finances, are to be determined.

Adele filed for divorce in the state of California where they own property and Konecki’s business has a base of operations due to which he could be entitled to as much as half of the singer’s earnings.
