Alex Murdaugh was born on 17 June 1968 in South Carolina, United States in a family of very educated lawyers. His father, grandfather, and great-grandfather were lawyers.
In January 2022, he was convicted of multiple wrongdoings related to financial matters and setting up a suicidal insurance fraud scheme.
Now, the disgraced lawyer has been charged with multiple criminal offenses including murdering his wife and his son and stealing more than $2.2 million from his clients.
He studied at Hampton High School and graduated in Political Science from the University of South Carolina in 1994. He then obtained a legal degree from the University of Carolina School of Law.
After completing his law education, Murdaugh started working as a legal advisor to a PMPED law firm and became a popular lawyer.
He is also guilty of faking his death three months after murdering his family members.

The infamous Murdaugh murders
Alex married Margaret Kennedy Branstetter Murdaugh in 1996. He killed her on June 7, 2021. She was only 53.
Murdaugh also killed his son, Paul Terry Murdaugh, 22, who was also a law student, that very day.
He has a remaining son named Buster who later testified in his dad’s defense in the courtroom.
The fatal murder became infamously known as the Murdaugh murders.
Alex made a 911 call that night saying he found the dead bodies of his wife and child on their private property.
The lawyer initially said that he found the bodies of the two near a dog kennel at the family’s vast estate in Islandton.
No arrest was made for a year as the case started getting more complicated day by day.
Finally, on July 14, 2022, the court charged the infamous lawyer with two counts of murder in the deaths of Maggie and Paul.
The prosecutors stated that he mercilessly shot his wife with a rifle and his son with a shotgun.
Despite the court of law proving him guilty, he confessed to thefts, lies, and fraud but denied murdering his family members.
