Emily is now 43 years of age. There is no mention about her past relationships. Neither has she talked about it anytime on her shows, podcast or in her interviews with other news outlets. She had been dating Peter Riley, real estate agent and data analyst for some years. But she had managed to keep this relationship under wraps.

There are reports that Emily and Peter were college mates at the University of Washington which both of them had attended in the early 2000s. They did not initiate any relationship at that time. John had served the US Navy Medical Corps in the capacity of a Commander. He hails from Sicily and has an Italian ethnicity. Her mother, Katherine Bertsch has a mixed ethnicity (English, Baden-Wurttemberg, and Bohemian). Emily has two sisters and they all grew up in El Cerrito in California.

TV star, Emily has a lot of defense connections. Her father was with the US Navy Medical Corps and her two uncles were with the US Army. Her second cousin and his wife were also working as the US Navy pilots. Moreover, her great grandfather and other relatives had participated in World War II.

Emily obtained a degree in Politics Science from the University of Washington. Here, she was the recipient of the Cadet of the Quarter award. In 2006, Emily also completed her law training from the University Of San Francisco School Of Law.
