Four people accuse Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler of sexual misconduct
Arcade Fire singer Win Butler is in trouble.
Four people aged between 18 and 23 at the time have accused the Grammy-winning frontman of behaving inappropriately with them.
Three women and one gender-fluid person alleged that the singer took advantage of his name and their fandom.
According to their claims, the singer even sent them unwanted sexual messages during periods that happened between 2015 and 2020. Butler was aged between 34 and 39 at the time of the incident.
Butler, however, denied all the claims put against him and said that all the sexual encounters were consensual.
He said:
“It is deeply revisionist, and frankly just wrong, for anyone to suggest otherwise.”
Butler, 42, also added:
“very sorry to anyone who I have hurt with my behaviour”.
One of the accusers, who uses they/them pronouns said that Win sexually assaulted them twice in 2015 when they were 21 and he was 34.
The other three believe that their relationship with the artist was unsuitable due to their age gap.
After the incident, one of the women reportedly tried to commit suicide with an overdose of painkillers.

Butler shared his side of the story
Butler communicated to a website through a crisis public relations expert Risa Heller.
Through Heller, Butler also proposed the website to put them in contact with whom he had consensual sex in the past.
The second statement also shows Butler addressing the accusations once again and his period of drinking and depression and asking for forgiveness.
He said:
“While these relationships were all consensual, I am very sorry to anyone who I have hurt with my behavior,”
“As I look to the future, I am continuing to learn from my mistakes and working hard to become a better person, someone my son can be proud of. […] I’m sorry I wasn’t more aware and tuned in to the effect I have on people – I fucked up, and while not an excuse, I will continue to look forward and heal what can be healed, and learn from past experiences.”
He also added in his defense:
‘I have never touched a woman against her will, and any implication that I have is simply false.’
Butler has been married to Arcade Fire singer Regine Chassagne since 2003. The couple shares a son together.
Chassagne also issued a statement in support of her husband.
Her statement read:
‘I know what is in his heart, and I know he has never, and would never, touch a woman without her consent and I am certain he never did. He has lost his way and he has found his way back.’
She added:
‘I love him and love the life we have created together.’
