Who is Arcangel?

Austin Agustin Santos is known as  Arcangel by everyone who is a singer and songwriter.

He was born on December 23, 1985, in East Harlen, the US  eventually moved to Puerto Rico in 2002. He was the eldest brother of three children in their family.

His mother’s name was Carmen Rosas a former member of the all-women merengue group, Las Chicas del Can, which was popular from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. His father’s name was Augustin Santos.

He spends his childhood listening to various types of music and was influenced by rock music and loves listening to them, particularly Robi Draco Rosa, a Puerto Rican pop-rock artist and a former member of Menudo.

During the early 2000s, Arcangel’s interests changed and he was in love with a new kind of music. Listening to artists like Tego Calderón and Tempo, inspired him to pursue a singing and rapping career in Puerto Rico.

In 2002 they moved to Puerto Rico. He had decided to follow reggaeton music.  He meets De La Ghetto and they both work together on a form of an underground act. The duo was signed to reggaeton artist Zion’s record label, Baby Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. They were recording their reggaeton albums as well as the two have also been involved in Machete Music since 2004. 

Arcángel & De La Ghetto rose to fame in 2006 on the reggaeton compilation album hosted by Héctor “El Father”, Sangre Nueva, with their hit song, “Ven y Pegate.

On 2007, Arcangel started to perform in singles with his various Reggaeton singer and performers.  Flow la Discoteka 2 was his best album that was loved by all. He founded Flow Factory Inc. in 2008, and his mother became his manager afterward. He went on to release his debut album, El Fenómeno, in late 2008.

In mid-January 2009, he said that he was planning a European tour maybe during 2009 for the promotion of his debut album named El Fenómeno. He thought so as from this he could also receive more exposure across the world from his reggaeton fan.

His other album named The Problem Child was released in April 2010. Currently, he is thinking of releasing his new album called, Sentimiento, Elegancia & Maldad. His most recent mixtape album was Optimus A.R.C.Which was released in October 2010.

On February 28, 2012, Pina Records said and showed a newsletter informing that Arcangel would work with him and had signed the record label company. He became the latest addition to the Pina Records team called “La Formula”.
