She is a horrific murder survivor which was attempted by her former teacher, Samson Shelton in 2006.

Ashley Reeves published her real-life storybook entitled “Left for Dead” in 2009. Even there is a movie titled, ‘Left for Dead; The Ashley Reeves Story’ which depicts her survival story.

So, here is her survival story.

When Ashley Reeves was 17-year-old she fell in love with her former teacher, Samson Shelton who was her teacher in seventh grade in 2001.

They reconnected in February 2006, and Ashley was romantically involved with an older man. They often used to play basketball together.

On April 27, 2006, Reeves went missing. Her parents were worried and even her mother called St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.

At first, Officers doubted that Reeves might be hanging out with her friend.

Later, they went through her call details and found out she called a guy named, Samson Shelton, before missing.

Afterward, the detectives immediately found out about him and started investigating. At the initial, Samson acted like a cool and calm man but then, after 12 hours of investigation, he spoke out that, he met her before she went missing.

Then, he added they had an argument regarding their relationship which Samson wanted to end but, Ashley was not ready for it.

So, in anger, he pulled her out of his vehicle and left her on the side of the road. The part-time pro wrestler even chokehold and dragged her out of his car.

After realizing, she was still alive, Samson strangled Reeves again with his belt. He again choked her and pulled the belt until it snapped.

After a while, he choked her for the third and final time with his bare hands and left her to die on the cold ground at Belleville park.

Luckily, Ashley Reeves was still alive and survived the horrific murder act.

The officers found her hand moving, and as soon as possible they rushed her to the local hospital, where she was put into an induced coma.

After the Incident

Currently, Ashley Reeves is serving as a volunteer for the Violence Prevention Center.

What Action was taken against the Culprit, Samson Shelton?

Though Sam was found guilty, he was released on bail and placed on house arrest.

Just before, going to court, the police got a call from Samson’s mother, in which she disclosed he tried to commit suicide.

There were handwritten words, ‘do not resuscitate‘ on his chest. As EMTs were going to revive him, he attacked them.

Sooner, he was taken to the local hospital, where he threw racial accusations against a nurse.

After that, Finally, his parents signed off on a plea deal against him and he was sentenced to prison for 20 years.

Currently, he is in the Illinois Department of Corrections, his projected parole date is April 22, 2024.
