The clues that added fuel to the rumors of his gayness were his controversial photos on his Twitter or X handle in which he was seen with his 13 Reasons Why co-star Tommy Dorfman. In one of these photos, Jacob was kissing Tommy on the cheek.

This set the rumor mill rolling with many labeling him as a gay person. These photos were dated before the time Tommy came out as a trans-woman. And in these past photos, Tommy had a masculine look. That is the reason that people thought that Jacob was gay and probably queer.

However, the important point was that when the photos were taken, Tommy was still married to Peter Zurkuhlen. Hence, it is likely that Jacob and Tommy were not in a relationship but were merely close friends at that time.
