After walking the red carpet at the 2022 Met Gala together, fans thought Bill Nighy and Anna Wintour definitely are a couple.

But now there’s confusion as the Oscar-nominated actor denied that the two are nothing but good friends.

The two have been denying their romance rumors for years saying that it was nothing but friendship but their red carpet appearance was suggesting something else.

The Vogue doyenne and Nighly appeared for the fashion’s big night arm-in-arm at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Wintour wore Chanel to honor the late Karl Lagerfeld and whispered something in her date’s ear as they posed for the paps and climbed up the stairs of the museum.

However, Bill’s reps said,

“Bill and Anna have simply been great friends for two decades. They are not in a relationship.”

But there were other sources who said,

“We think last night speaks for itself.”

Another eyewitness who was at the event said,

“They are so cute.”
“They are the new royal couple of fashion! Look at their body language — I have never seen Anna like that before….even when she was with Shelby (Bryan, her former partner), he would always stand behind her.”

Wintour and Nighy’s previous relationships

Wintour and Nighy, who are both British have been good pals for decades now and have been pictured numerous times together whether at the theater or restaurants around different parts of the world.

In 2021, Bill was even seen presenting roses to Anna.

Also, the rumored couple enjoyed The Jungle in a theater in London in 2018.

In 2020, the two were seen enjoying a cozy dinner at Sant Ambroeus on Madison Avenue and the witness said that the editor was “happier than I have ever seen her.”
