Camila’s fame came when she was part of the girl group Fifth Harmony. It was one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. While with the group, Camila also began working on her solo career.

She collaborated with Shawn Mendes and Machine Gun Kelly and released some albums with them that made the US Billboard Top 100 list.

In late 2016, Camila left Fifth Harmony to concentrate on her solo career. Her debut studio album in 2018 reached no.1 on the US Billboard 200.

Camila suffers from anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She has revealed that she is under therapy for it and urged her fans to take care of their mental health.

There were some old posts of Camila on Tumblr that she had reblogged in 2012-2013. These surfaced on Twitter in December 2019. It had several racial slurs and used derogatory language. In one post, she had mocked Chris Brown for having attacked Rihanna.

After this, Tumblr deleted her account. Camila put in an apology stating that she was young, uneducated, and ignorant at that time. She expressed embarrassment on those posts. Further, she tweeted:

“I would never intentionally hurt anyone and I regret it from the bottom of my heart,”

She said that those statements do not represent the person she is now and wrote:

“I use my platform to speak out about injustice and inequality and I’ll continue doing that,”
“I can’t say enough how deeply sorry and ashamed I feel, and I apologize again from the bottom of my heart.”

In March 2021, she said that she had undergone the weekly racial healing sessions. The racial equity group National Compadres Network administered these sessions.
