Princess Margaret passed away in February 2002 at the age of 71 after suffering 4 strokes. Now her life story is being portrayed in the series by actress Lesley Manville, 66.

Princess Margaret, the Countess of Snowdon was one of the most famous royals in modern history. The younger sister of the Queen was quite famous for her rebellious nature and strong personality.
Margaret made headlines around the globe for her party-girl lifestyle and romantic relationships.
Meanwhile, the new season of The Crown has an overall new cast. Imelda Staunton, 66, portrays the character of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Also playing the character of Princess Diana is Elizabeth Debicki, who made her debut during the premiere of the show earlier this month.
While many fans are obsessed with the show that focuses on the life of the British Royal Family, it also faces extreme backlash for showing traumatic moments from the Princess of Wales’ final years.

The Crown presents disturbing moments from Princess Diana’s last years
The Crown is also ready to show the extremely controversial 1995 interview that Diana did with Martin Bashir which turned out to be extremely damaging for the royal family. The show also presents the 1997 Paris car crash that led Diana to lose her life.
Portraying Princess Diana on camera is not an easy thing to do. Elizabeth, in a new interview with British Vogue, talked about the overwhelming prospect of taking on the character. She also reflected on creating her revenge dress which she believes was super risque for the time.
She told the magazine:
‘I think in the very beginning that did overwhelm me, the idea of this kind of collective [of Diana disciples] out there.
‘It’s a trap, right? A swampy quagmire. So, I would stand over the kitchen sink and say, ‘I cannot do this.’
Talking about the not-so-royal black revenge dress, Debicki said:
‘It was pressure! It’s a complex dress. I let the fittings happen around me while I thought about what the dress meant. Why this dress? She’d had it for two or three years. It was super risqué at the time.”
The 32-year-old Australian actress added:
‘She was claiming the space. The way she walked out of that car, the luminosity, the strength of her as that car door opened, she was so fast and so forward. It’s an extraordinary thing to watch.’
‘To decide what you’re saying about yourself through fashion… it was a currency. An incredibly powerful currency.’
