What did Celine Dion’s sister say about the singer’s health condition?
Celine Dion‘s sister Claudette Dion is giving fans an update about the singer’s current health issues.
During an interview with Le Journal de Montreal, Claudette revealed that despite working with the top medical researchers, her sister has been struggling to find the treatment for her stiff person syndrome diagnosis.
Claudette told the outlet,
“We can’t find any medicine that works, but having hope is important,”
As per the National Institute of Health, stiff person syndrome is a “rare, progressive neurological disorder” that can cause stiff muscles in the torso, arms, and legs.
It is a rare disease that effects one in a million people.
Following the diagnosis in December 2022, the My Heart Will Go On singer was forced to cancel her Courage World Tour. Claudette said that it is necessary for her sisters’ chances of rehabilitation.
She said,
”I honestly think that she mostly needs to rest. She always goes above and beyond, she always tries to be the best and top of her game,”
“At one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It’s important to listen to it.”
Celine and Claudette’s sister Linda has since moved into Celine’s Vegas as a caretaker for the singer.
Claudette explained,
“When I call her and she’s busy, I speak to my sister Linda who lives with her and tells me that she’s working hard,”
“She’s listening to the top researchers in the field of this rare disease as much as possible.”
When was Celine diagnosed with the syndrome?
Despite lacking improvement, the Grammy winner’s family still hopes that things will get better.
It was in May that the My Heart Will Go On songstress announced with a heavy heart that she was canceling over 40 tours due to the debilitating disorder.
Dion wrote on Instagram,
“I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%,”
“It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again,”
“I want you all to know, I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!”
While the singer revealed her diagnosis in December of last year, she said at the time that she was “dealing with problems with [her] health for a long time.”
Fans on the internet wished the hitmaker a speedy recovery with one writing,
”Blessed with a beautiful voice and cursed with a rare disease. Get well soon.”
Another wrote,
”Wishing her the very best”
