Colleen Hoover was born on December 11, 1979, in Sulphur, Texas, US to American parents Vannoy Fite and Eddie Fennell. She grew up in Saltillo, Texas.

She has two sisters named Lin and Murphy. Other details have not been published regarding her family. Her ethnicity is white.

Colleen Hoover graduated from Saltillo High School in 1998. Hoover got a degree in social work from Texas A&M-Commerce.

Later she confirmed that the main reason for publishing her first novel was so her mother could read it on Amazon Kindle which her mother had bought recently.

In February of the same year, she published a sequel “Point of Retreat” which hit #8 & #18 in the NYT after a few months of their publication.

Colleen Hoover debut novel “Slammed” received 5 stars from book blogger Maryse Black. Later on, she signed with Atria Books and re-published her book on 10 August 2012.

Again she self-published her 3rd novel “Hopeless” which became the first self-published book ranked #1 in the NYT.

She published “Finding Cinderella” in 2014 following “Maybe Someday” in March 2014.

Through all her works in 2021, Colleen Hoover noticed that she had gained a lot of popularity through a #BookTok community in Tiktok.
