Dakota Johnson comes from a family of famous faces. One of them is her stepfather Antonio Banderas with whom she shares an incredibly loving relationship.
Antonio who met Dakota’s mother, Melaine Griffith on the set of Two Much fell in love with her despite both being married to other individuals.
The pair married in 1996 and were married for 20 years, shared a daughter, and eventually divorced in 2015.
Even though the couple’s relationship did not last, the Desperado actor played a large role in shaping Dakota’s future and career.
In 2019, Banderas was awarded at the Hollywood Film Awards for his role in Pain and Glory. The award was extra special to the actor as Dakota was the one presenting him the award.
Johnson gushed about presenting the award to her beloved stepdad. She said:
“I got a bonus dad who I realized that, over time, is actually one of the most influential people in my whole life.”

Antonio is proud of Dakota’s life choices
Antonio and Melanie’s divorce was an amicable one. The former pair have stayed close to each other and Antonio’s relationship with Dakota has always been inseparable.
Calling Griffith his best friend, Antonio said in an interview:
“I am not married with Melanie anymore but she is my family. She is probably one of my best friends, if not the best friend that I have. My family is there, Dakota [Johnson], Little Estella and Alexander.”
Antonio,62, has also been very supportive of Dakota’s acting career and is proud of her success.
Talking about his love and respect for her, the Spanish actor said:
“Of course. I met her when she was five years old! I followed every single step of it. I’m so proud of her. I saw her the other day in Toronto, and she looks — as I said in the social networks when I put a picture of her and myself, I put there, ‘My radiant Dakota.'”
