David Foster enjoys being a dad in his early 70s
David Foster is a happy dad in his 70s.
The music producer, 72, who welcomed his 20-month-old son Rennie last February with his wife Katharine McPhee has no regrets about being a dad at a later stage of life.
He admitted that having a baby at this age was something he’d never thought of. However, Foster said he hasn’t regretted a single day of it.
In a joint interview with his wife, 38, Foster said:
“I’ve loved every single day,”
He continued:
”It’s the standard thing of like, ‘Oh, well, you were so young when you had your children, and you were working day and night, you never saw them.”
”And there is some truth to that, sadly, for my [older] kids. I was just working a lot. Even though I’m working a lot now, I’ll cancel anything just to hang with him. It’s just different.”
Rennie is not David’s first child. He has been married four times and is the father to five daughters: Allison, 52, Amy, 49, Erin,40, and Jordan, 36.
But for McPhee, it is the first time experience of motherhood. The first-time mom revealed that she always wanted to have a baby with her husband but knew there were no guarantees.

The couple does not mind their big age gap
Foster and McPhee who have an astonishing age gap of 34 years know that they are an unconventional couple but are sure that things between them automatically work out.
Foster also recalled the age gap between Celine Dion and her late husband Rene Angelil when he first started working with them. But after some time, it all looked and felt normal.
Foster said:
“I think we’re over that hump now with five years of being together, “and hopefully people just start looking like we belong together because we feel like we do.”
The Scorpion star supported her husband’s statement by saying:
“Even if they don’t, we don’t care. We just love our history, how we met and where we are now. Sometimes we look at each other like, ‘This is so wild that we’re together.’”
The happy couple first met on the set of American Idol Season 5. That was when David was a mentor and Katharine was a contestant. They stayed friends throughout the years.
They first started dating in 2017 and made their romance official by appearing at the 2018 Met Gala as a couple.
In July of the same year, Foster popped the question and in June 2019, the lovebirds tied the knot with family and close friends in attendance.
