The couple’s divorce news
It was on 22 November 2019 that US Weekly reported that the couple had split. Justin, 42 separated legally from his wife Chrishell, 38 after just two years of married life.
Justin filed his divorce papers at the Los Angeles Superior Court. The documents reveal that the couple separated on 8 July 2019 and the reason for seeking divorce was ‘irreconcilable differences’.
Chrishell has put the date of separation as 22 November 2019 and not 8 July in her response to the divorce proceedings. This is the date that Justin also filed for divorce in court.
As per Chrisehll’s divorce papers, she has asked for spousal support. She also wants Justin to pay for her attorney’s fees. But Justin’s papers state that he neither wants to pay his attorney fees for Chrishell nor wants to give her spousal support.
The couple’s relationship timeline
Actor Justin and Chrishell met in 2013 and began dating. After four years of courtship, they wed in 2017 October. Earlier in July 2015, Justin had proposed to Chrishell and she had accepted his proposal.
Justin’s first wife was Lindsay Hartley whom he had married in 2004. They have a daughter together who is called Isabella and is 15 years of age now.
On the other hand, Chrishell was in a relationship with Matthew Morrison and they engaged for a year in 2006.
The couple’s divorce timeline
Just one week before the divorce announcement, Chrishell had hosted a viewing party for the Hallmark Channel movie Holiday for Heroes. Her then-husband Justin and their friend Melissa Claire Egan were present at the party. Melissa had shared multiple pictures of the event on her social media and wrote:
“SO lucky for these friends, and so lucky for my besties @chrishellhartley & @justinhartley, throwing a screening party for ‘Holiday for Heroes’ tonight. Best friends ever. If you missed it, it will air again, check it out! @hallmarkmovie,”
And one day before this, the couple was at the Golden Globes party together. Chrishell had posted pictures of the time on her Instagram. The couple was smiling and wearing their wedding rings at that time.
After the 22 November 2019 split, Chrishell broke her silence on the subject and wrote on her social media on 2 December 2019:
“It’s hard to watch people change right in front of you. But it’s even harder remembering who they used to be,”
She also made changes to her social media bio and deleted the words wife and stepmom from it. On 5 December, Justin was in a photo in Los Angeles and his wedding ring was missing.
