Doug Kyed is inconsolable over the loss of his beloved daughter Hallie
Doug Kyed is grieving the death of his 2-year-old daughter, Hallie, whom he shared with his wife Jen Cosby-Kyed.
Hallie died “peacefully in her sleep” on Sunday, January 21, following her battle with leukemia.
The NFL reporter shared the heartbreaking news via Instagram along with a pair of pictures of Hallie that included Jen, him, and their elder daughter Olivia
“We’re completely lost and heartbroken without Hallie, Our lives will never be the same. Hallie was a special kid, and she made a positive impact on so many people she met. We were lucky to be her parents and Olivia was fortunate to have the best baby sister.”
The journalist went on to share touching memories of his daughter, honoring,
“Hal, my koala baby, my little Hallie Bear, my Sour Patch Kid. She was so beautiful, naturally funny (and knew it) and was going to be a star in dance class. Doctors, nurses and hospital staff loved seeing which princess dress she’d be wearing that day (or particular hour).”

He continued,
“The world is a worse place without Hallie in it, If you can take anything from Hallie today, it’s to know exactly what you want and to be persistent in asking for it, whether it’s going on a walk, ride in the car or wearing one particular Disney dress (usually Cruella). I’ll miss rubbing her hair and kissing her head and telling her I love her the most.”
Joe also paid a tribute to Hallie on her respective Instagram handle, remembering,
“She had so much life in her little body, Before she was diagnosed, she always woke up so excited for the day, going straight to the closet and drawers to get herself ready, saying ‘jacket, boots, hat, car!’ Throughout her battle with leukemia, she always got up. She demanded to go on 800 walks in her stroller in her final week. She passed away with paint on her hands and sparkles in her hair from doing crafts.”
How long had Hallie been battling leukemia?
Hallie survived for just nine months after diagnosis with AML, a type of blood and bone marrow cancer.
She had first experienced a rash and swollen lymph nodes, which led to her leukemia in April 2023. At first, doctors prescribed medication, thinking it was an infection.
But even five days later, she still had the rash, along with some strange bruises on her legs and a swollen stomach.
Hallie was then admitted to Boston Children’s Hospital where her cancer was discovered, and began chemotherapy.
She also underwent a bone marrow transplant in October, but she experienced a relapse following the procedure. Kyed revealed that the toddler’s chemotherapy treatments had stopped working.
He justified,
“Doctors at Boston Children’s Hospital did everything they could to help Hallie, and she beat AML every day for over nine months straight.”
