Why does Emily Blunt not wants her kids to do acting?

Emily Blunt is one big Hollywood name but she is not sure if she wants her children to follow in her footsteps and pursue acting careers in the future.

The Devil Wears Prada admitted that the industry can disappoint women due to its superficial element.

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Blunt said,

“My toes curl when people tell me, ‘My daughter wants to be an actress.’ I want to say, ‘don’t do it,’”
“Because it’s a hard industry and it can be very disappointing. A lot of people tell you not to take things personally — but it’s completely personal, especially when you’re being judged on how you look. So you just have to endure that side of things.”

Additionally, the British star’s name and fame is not exciting for her daughters. She said she is “completely disassociated” with her stardom.

She told the magazine,

“When I see myself up on a billboard, I have this complete dissociation with it… I’m like, who’s that? And I can see my children doing the same — they might say, oh, there’s mama, but it’s not exciting for them,”
“What’s exciting for them is when I can pick them up from school and take them swimming.”

Emily’s daughters do not care about her fame

Blunt also gave her opinion on the industry and said that having an ambition is healthy and said that knowing one’s worth as an actor is important.

The A Quiet Place actress said,

“Ambition is healthy — it shouldn’t be seen as a negative thing. It’s about knowing your worth and what you bring to a project, and never apologizing for doing well.”

Emily welcomed her two daughters Hazel, 8, and Violet, 6, with her husband John Krasinski. The co-stars married in 201o in Lake Como, Italy.

They worked together onscreen in both A Quiet Place horror movies together. John was the director and co-writer of both movies.

In 2021, Emily said that the couple’s eldest daughter started to pick up on her parents’ fame.

The Golden Globe-winning actress told the Sunday Times at the time,

“Hazel came home the other day, and we were in the kitchen, and she goes, ‘Are you famous?’”
“We’ve never said that word in our house,”
“Someone at school had clearly said it. I was like, ‘Um, not really, I don’t think I am. Did someone say that to you, Haze?’”
