Emily was born on 9 November 1979 in Oakland in California. Her birth was at the Oak Knoll Naval Hospital. Here, her father John Compagno worked as the director of the blood bank. John had served the US Navy Medical Corps in the capacity of a Commander. He hails from Sicily and has an Italian ethnicity. Her mother, Katherine Bertsch has a mixed ethnicity (English, Baden-Wurttemberg, and Bohemian). Emily has two sisters and they all grew up in El Cerrito in California.
TV star, Emily has a lot of defense connections. Her father was with the US Navy Medical Corps and her two uncles were with the US Army. Her second cousin and his wife were also working as the US Navy pilots. Moreover, her great grandfather and other relatives had participated in World War II.
Emily obtained a degree in Politics Science from the University of Washington. Here, she was the recipient of the Cadet of the Quarter award. In 2006, Emily also completed her law training from the University Of San Francisco School Of Law.
