German Supermodel Tatjana Patitz Passes Away Due to Breast Cancer at the Age of 56!

Supermodel Tatjana Patitz loses battle with breast cancer
One of the original supermodels, Tatjana Patitz passed away at the age of 56. She was battling breast cancer for quite some time.
Her agent publicly announced the unfortunate public news that she died in Santa Barbara, California, on Wednesday morning.
In 1990, Patitz starred alongside supermodels Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and Cindy Crawford on the cover of British Vogue.
The iconic cover has since become one of the most legendary images of all time. It even came under Edward Enninful‘s top ten British Vogue covers of all time. Legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh shot the image.
That same month the Hamburg-born supermodel got her own US Vogue cover.
Tatjana first started modeling when she was just 17 years old in Stockholm. It was there that she entered a modeling contest and came third. But her successful career had just begun.
The Germany-born, Sweden-raised model was fortunate to be photographed by Peter Lindbergh in 1988 which skyrocketed her blossoming career.
Patitz even made a memorable appearance in George Michael‘s Freedom 90 music video that also featured her fellow models like Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and Linda Evangelista.
Tatjana later revealed that Michael was one of her first teenage crushes so she was starstruck when she first met him.

Fashion A-listers remember Patitz
After the news of the supermodel made headlines, many A-listers from the fashion industry paid tribute to the supermodel.
Fellow model Elaine Irwin posted a picture of their joint Paris Vogue cover and wrote,
‘Forever treasured Tatjana. With love to Tatjana Patitz and family.’
Supermodel Yasmeen Ghauri also paid a touching tribute to the late model by posting a picture of her with Patitz, Naomi, and Karen Alexander. She wrote in the captions,
”Rest in peace dear Tatjana.”
‘We didn’t know each other well but your presence always struck me. Your authenticity, grace, kindness and inner strength shone through. You will be missed.’
Veterans Naomi and Helena also expressed their sadness in the comment section.
Eva Herzigova wrote:
‘An angel has left us, Tatjana Patitz …hearing about your passing is the saddest news I could have imagined…I miss your dearly RIP.’
Cindy Crawford shared throwback pictures with the late supermodel on Insta Stories with a broken heart emoji.
Alongside many Vogue covers, Tatjana also worked with many big fashion houses like Chanel, Versace, and Calvin Klein.
Patitz married Jason Johnson for six years and the couple shared a son, Jonah who they welcomed in November 2004. The model described her only child as her source of happiness.
Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editor-in-chief also praised Tatjana by saying,
‘Tatjana was always the European symbol of chic, like Romy Schneider-meets-Monica Vitti.”
Patitz was born to an Estonian mother and a German father in Hamburg. The family later moved to Skanor, Sweden.
